One of the key advantages of the ASP approach to the provision of the hTrak solution is the ability to provide high quality manufacturers' product master data maintained at a single point, the hTrak Web Server. hTrak clients will no longer need to try and keep track of the thousands of data changes per month, at an individual hospital level.

Product Master Data is sourced in one of three ways:

•  From either of the two international barcode standards organisations, GS1 or HIBCC. This is currently the preferred hTrak channel for data.
• Direct from the manufacturer. If we are unable to obtain data from either of the barcode standards organisations, we source data directly from the manufacturing organisation. 
•  As a last resort, data is extracted directly from the manufacturer’s barcode on device packaging. This is a last resort and is now rarely used as a data capture mechanism. Subsequent data availability from either the standards organisations or the manufacturer will overwrite the manually captured data.
